  The Quiz:

If you achieve a score of 70% or higher (seven out of ten), you will receive one hour of Continuing Education (CE) credit accredited by the Arizona Dental Association. Each test is $20.00 for AzDA members and $40.00 for Non-AzDA members. A portion of the proceeds will be dedicated to supporting charitable dental events organized by the AzDA Cares Foundation. AzDA operates as a Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) provider under the guidance of the American Dental Association.

Treatment planning the Posterior Maxilla II: Prosthetic design and patient-related variables:

1 - Establishing anterior tooth contact is a strategy for protecting posterior implant occlusion
2 - Splinting implants focuses forces on the bone supporting them and may be a higher-risk strategy in the maxilla.
3 - Implant length is of lesser value in the type 4 bone of the posterior maxilla than in denser bone in the mandible.
4 - Occlusal relief of one shim stock thickness on an implant crown risks overload of adjacent PDLs
5 - Because bone hardens with age, initial stability is often higher in older patients.
6 - Because stress is described as force applied to a specific area (S=f/a), it is reduced when
   Force and area are equal
Forces are increased gradually and not traumatically
Forces are decreased gradually and the area is decreased
   The area is increased
7 - Microtrauma to trabeculae can be decreased by
Using narrow implants to reduce osteotomy size
Using wide implants to increase BIC
Using short implants to avoid contacting second cortical layers
Avoiding splinted implants to minimize invasive procedures
8 - Osseodensification
   Increases initial stability of implants
Creates temporary bone density in the threaded portion of the osteotomy
Is subject to remodeling and reversion to underlying genetic expression
   All of the above
9 - Two working pairs of first molars with no second molars
Contradicts nature unless second molar pairs are present
Can be adequate in women and older patients
Should avoid sinus involvement if the maxillary half of the pair is replaced with an implant
   b. and c.
10 - Implant-retained, tissue-borne dentures
   Can be made without flanges
Place lifting forces on implants but minimal compressive forces
Are appropriate in minimal bone conditions.
   b. and c.
