Speaker:

Dr. Mark E. Hyman Dr. Mark E. Hyman is a renowned dentist from Greensboro, North Carolina, and a public speaker whose work is characterized by his warmth, enthusiasm, sense of humor, and passion for dentistry. As an accomplished speaker, he has delivered talks across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Israel, and England. He has earned national and international recognition and, since 2001, has been one of Dentistry Today magazine's top speakers in dentistry. He loved his 32 years in private practice and currently serves as an Adjunct Full Professor and Special Assistant to the Office of the Dean at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Mark's journey into dentistry was sparked by an early fascination with science and hands-on work, nurtured by his scout master in Boy Scouts who was a dentist. This steered him towards a career in dentistry, where he could combine his love for science with a genuine desire to help others. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Mark moved to Israel to serve as a volunteer dentist on Kibbutz Gadot in the Upper Galilee for four months. After living in Israel, he completed the prestigious two-year oral medicine and general practice residency at University North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 1986, he transformed a struggling dental office on the verge of bankruptcy into a high-performing, top 1% practice that generated millions of dollars in revenue and tremendous love and loyalty from his dental team. Most of his dental team stayed with him between 15 and 25 years. He is an inspirational leader and an enthusiastic speaker who is passionate about dentistry and helping others to grow their businesses. Dr. Mark's entrance into public speaking was driven by a desire to change the way dentistry is taught. A defining moment came when Dr. Mark was invited to return to the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry to share his personal journey with first-year dental students. The audience responded with a thunderous ovation that encouraged him to continue his public speaking journey. Over time, with additional training and valuable advice from his mentors, Dr. Mark's style has evolved into a fast-paced, upbeat, and fun approach that captivates audiences. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mark is a devoted family man. He has been married to Anita Kaye for 40 years, and they have three adult children and two grand dogs. He is known for his infectious enthusiasm, caring nature, and signature dad jokes. When he isn't engaging audiences around the world, Dr. Mark enjoys concerts, theater, sports, and travel. Eager to learn, he embraces continuing education, leadership training, and any opportunities that can sharpen his skills.
