CADS CE Social Club: Odontogenic Tumors

This is a 2-hour CE course designed to be a review and discussion of odontogenic tumors found in clinical practice. Focus will be on detection, clinical and radiographic description, histology, and surgical treatment modalities. 

At the completion of the course, participants should 
  • Have a strong understanding of the principles of addressing this type of pathology
  • Understand the importance of a thorough clinical and radiographic examination, and be able to perform a reasonable differential diagnosis based on their findings.
  • Contribute in the management of the patient in a collaborative effort to enhance comprehensive quality care. 


Dr. Joseph Pierse:

Dr. Joseph E. Pierse is the founder of Precision Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Pierse holds the rare distinction of being both an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Prosthodontist. He is one of only several practitioners in the United States with this privilege.

Having completed seven years of post-graduate hospital-based training, Dr. Pierse has demonstrated his expertise in treating the oral cavity as well as the head and neck. This background gives Dr. Pierse unique insight into the surgical process with the restorative or reconstructive goal in mind, and thus allows him to collaborate closely with providers during treatment planning to provide comprehensive quality care. 

Dr. Pierse received his Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from Hofstra University in New York. Following this, he obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Affiliated with Weill Medical Center, Cornell University, he then spent three years at New York Hospital Queens to become a specialist in the field of Prosthodontics. Dr. Pierse then continued his training at The Brooklyn Hospital Center for an additional four years to become an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Throughout his residency training, Dr. Pierse furthered his education at Columbia University, New York University, and Harvard University at The Massachusetts General Hospital. 

Dr. Pierse has presented at numerous conferences, and has also authored articles and chapters in the fields of Prosthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Through continuing medical education, Dr. Pierse attends courses covering the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with concentration in the fields of pathology, craniofacial trauma, and reconstructive surgery.
