NADS Forensic Dentistry Two-Part Course

Hour 1: Exploring the Facets of Forensic Dentistry
Hour 2: Probing Further: Case Studies in Forensic Dentistry

This presentation introduces participants to the history and practice of forensic dentistry and its subdisciplines. The program will also review actual forensic dentistry cases across the four subdisciplines of the field.

Course I learning objectives: 
  • Define forensic dentistry
  • Summarize the history of forensic dentistry
  • Describe the four subdisciplines of forensic dentistry
  • Identify the role of the forensic dentist as part of the multi-disciplinary medicolegal death investigation team

Course II learning objectives:
  • Apply the principles of forensic dentistry to real cases

Dr. Elif Aksoylu:

Elif Aksoylu is a Member of the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners, Associate Member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and Member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology.

She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Washington, Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, and Master of Public Health at A.T. Still University. She is also a graduate of the Forensic Dentistry Fellowship at Lincoln Memorial University. In addition to working in community health, she is a passionate educator, and has a keen interest in teaching other dental and forensic professionals about the field of Forensic Odontology.
