Arizona law requires that Dental Assistants pass the written/computer Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam in order to expose patients to ionizing radiation. In this intensive 8-hour course you will gain the information and insight you need to feel more confident taking the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) Radiation Health and Safety Exam. This course covers the characteristics and effects of radiation, components and functions of the x-ray machine, intra and extra oral procedures, infection control pertaining to radiology procedures, ethics, identifying and correction of errors, film and sensor processing, anatomical landmarks, pertinent terminology, radiation safety, film/sensor errors and an introduction to digital radiography.

Maureen Pisano, CDA:

Maureen Pisano taught Radiology for Dental Assistants for many years at NAU and was the department head for the Dental Assisting program at Union Technical Institute in New Jersey. She has been a DANB Certified Dental Assistant since 1979 and served a two term Presidency of the Monmouth county component of the New Jersey Dental Assistant Association. She also serves as instructor of this program at the Western Regional Dental Convention. Currently, she is the clinical administrator for the Sid Davis Dental Clinic, a free dental clinic in Flagstaff.
