You may already know that tobacco use is the single largest cause of preventable death in our country. Did you know that about 70% of smokers think about quitting each year? You can help them! Advice to quit from a health professional is cited as the number one motivator to quit. But what do you do after you advised your patient to quit? Why, you refer them to the Arizona Smoker’s Helpline (ASHLine), of course. It’s one of the most effective3 quitlines and coaching services in the United States and it’s free! The ASHLine also helps those who want to quit e-cigarettes and hookah – which I’ll update you on. The dental offices with the most referrals will be listed in the Phoenix Magazine “Top Dentist” issue in August, courtesy of Maricopa County Department of Public Health, Office of Healthcare Innovations. However, your referrals will only be tracked if you use the fax referral system. Come and learn all about it so you can “Walk the Talk”.
