Barbara Freet, PHR

Barbara Freet has over 25 years' experience in the related fields of selection and hiring and human resource consulting. Currently she is President of the 30-year old consulting firm of Human Resource Advisors, and for 14 years was President of Personnel Resource Network, a search firm specializing in executive recruiting. Barbara began her career by developing efficient manual systems for companies needing to gain control of their paper processes prior to computerization. She then became Manager of Client Services for a large business consulting firm training owners and managers of small to medium-sized businesses on all aspects of management and revenue generation. Encouraged to become a personnel recruiter, she joined an Oakland agency and then a San Francisco executive search firm before starting her own firm, Personnel Resource Network in 1988. In addition to recruiting, PRN provided a wide variety of services including employment research, salary surveys and interview training. As an adjunct to recruiting, Barbara became a partner in Career Focus Seminars, offering training to the public on resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, and networking. For the past 25+ years, Barbara has been providing hands-on assistance to her clients in many human resource areas as part of their management team. These services include writing employee handbooks and policies and procedures manuals, creating job descriptions, developing performance appraisals, and doing training on a variety of subjects for employees and management alike. In the past 15 years alone Barbara has conducted over 850 Sexual Harassment seminars and over 100 investigations. Human Resource Advisors also provides day-to-day assistance on all aspects of the employment relationship. We work closely with several employment attorneys and appreciate their mentorship. In 1996 Barbara published the first in a series of employee handbooks written specifically for dentists containing both federal and state law in all 50 states. HRA is pleased to be the HR resource during the past 14+ years for the members of the Crown Council, a national organization with over 1400 member dentists. Barbara has conducted seminars for professional groups and private employers on many subjects including sexual harassment, hiring and firing with confidence, wage and hour issues, administering leaves of absence correctly, terminating safely, and practice "best practices", to name a few. Barbara has been a speaker at the American Academy of Dental Group Practices (AADGP) and has spoken at a number of Dental Societies and Study Groups nationwide. She has spoken to dental students at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry about instituting HR best practices when starting a practice. She has also been a guest speaker to post-graduate business students at California State University, Hayward on human resource issues and to the Contra Costa Bar Association Family Law Division on employment law for small practices. She has also hosted her own radio show on KFNX which was also carried on the Internet on streamaudio.com. Today HR Advisors has clients in all 50 states including 700+ large and small dental practices. Barbara has a BA degree in Social Science from Westmont College and two years' post-graduate study toward an MBA in Information Management.
